Dr. Martens Women’s 939 Lace-Up Ankle Boot

Dr. Martens Women's 939 Lace-Up Ankle Boot

  • The outsole is then sewn to the welt around the edge and then heat sealed.
  • This, together with our Z welt-stitch and heat-sealing process, makes it unique to Dr. Martens. This is the only construction that is stitched on the outside and helps footwear take the shape to the foot.
  • The upper and sole are sewn together, not merely glued, like many footwear constructions.
  • This is a Goodyear-welted product using PVC for the welt.
  • Padded collar, signature loop and our air cushioned sole for maximum comfort.

The 6-eye women’s 939 boot takes its inspiration from hiking gear, and is finished in greasy suede, with a padded collar, signature loop and our air cushioned sole for maximum comfort. Our Reinvented range takes classic Dr. Martens styles and customises them, playing with their history to create something new every season.

Glad I took the chance and purchased, February 27, 2016

I was a bit hesitant to purchase now that they are made in Asia, but they fit exactly like my other 3 pairs of Doc’s (all made in England). Just like any pair the leather is very stiff, but I managed to wear them for a 9 hour shift at work (I am on my feet moving the whole time) with little discomfort. The padded collar will take time to get used to if you are used to the traditional 1460’s, but all in all a very comfortable boot.

Like all Docs, April 24, 2016

After a month, I’m digging these. Like all Docs, they’re versatile and can be worn comfortably all day (I use inserts for extra arch support, and to make my 9.5 feet fit the size 10 shoe). And like all Docs, they’re made solidly. Most boots under $100 are flimsy garbage. The soles and leather here feel as strong and durable as what I’ve felt on $300+ boots like Red Wings.

I knocked off a star because unlike other Docs I’ve worn (why oh why did they stop making the Leo), they are *painful* out of the box. I expect a certain amount of breaking in with boots, but these made my left heel bleed and gave me a pain on the top of my right foot where the tongue sits. It took probably a week and a half to go from painful to merely uncomfortable, and another week and a half to where they actually felt good on my feet. 3 weeks is too damn long. Worth it to save the $250 extra I’d have spent on Red Wings? Sure, I’m a cheapskate.

Note on color, because Amazon has two different pictures for the black pair: mine had white eyelets, white stitching and two sets of laces, one black and one white. I was expecting the black-on-black pair, but these look good too.

Amazing boots. I have a 9.5N foot. In these boots, I ordered a 7 or 41. The inside of the tongue specifically states 7 UK/41 EU and 9 L (ladies, I assume). The fit is perfect so I would say they run a bit narrow and bit large. Other reviewers cited size issues but the tan boot arrived just as I had hoped. They are comfortable right out of the box, not stiff or in need of breaking in as others stated. I’m extremely happy.
